Scenario 9 - Using a Farm Equipment Cloud
9.0 Overview
Today many farm equipment manufacturers publish or use common data exchange cloud systems. The cloud acts as an intermediary between the on-board software which uploads its data to its manufacturer, who then relays the data to authenticated partner systems. A common challenge, however, is that the data that flows to and from the partner system is still in a manufacturer-proprietary format and must be translated by the partners, leading to issues where multiple partners translate the same data in different ways.
ADAPT approaches this challenge as one of its primary use cases. Since the equipment manufacturer/data source has a vested interest in sharing quality data with partners with whom it shares common customers, it should fall to that source system to translate that data into a common format that all partners will be able to display without variation from the data producers view fo the data.
In this way, the cloud system handles any translation out of or into the on-board software’s proprietary data format, and all partners have the same experience.
